About Table for Duo
One subject: games for exactly two people.
Every other site that covers two-player board games is really a site about board games in general, with a two-player article on it. That difference shows up in the recommendations: lists that mix games designed for exactly two people with big-box games that merely function at two, without ever telling you which is which.
Table for Duo only covers games for two. Every game we write about carries a label taken from the publisher's own stated player count -- Built for two when they say exactly 2, Plays at two when they list a range. Of the 16 games we cover, 10 are built for exactly two. That is the whole editorial idea and it is explained in full on the built-for-two page.
Who writes this
Scooter M. writes Table for Duo. An enthusiast who is genuinely into this: I read the rulebooks, compile the published specifications, and do the arithmetic. No lab coat.
That is the honest description and I would rather give you that than a more impressive one. I do not hold a credential in game design. I do not run a testing lab. There is no editorial panel behind this and no team of reviewers -- it is one person who finds the subject interesting and thinks the existing coverage of it is sloppy about the one detail that matters most to a two-person household.
What we have not done
We have not played these games. Not one of them, and you will find that stated on every page rather than tucked away here.
The reason to say so plainly is that almost every competing page in this category implies extensive hands-on testing, and a lot of that is not true either. Rather than join in, we compete on something you can actually check: publisher-sourced specifications with a link on every figure, a stated player count for every game, and box dimensions printed only where a publisher publishes them.
If we cannot cite a number, we do not print it. There is no category for probably. The method is set out in detail on how we pick.
How this is funded
