Sky Team is a two-player-only cooperative game by Luc Remond, published by Le Scorpion Masque in 2023, stated at 15 minutes for ages 12 and up. One of you is pilot, one co-pilot, and you land an aircraft placing dice without discussing what you hold.

Sky Team is the strongest argument on this site for buying games that were designed for exactly two people. It could not exist at three players. The entire experience is built on the specific texture of two people who cannot talk trying to coordinate, and adding a third would dissolve it.
It is also the shortest good co-op we know of. Fifteen minutes, per the publisher, and it is genuinely tense for most of them.
01
The communication restriction is the game
You roll dice behind a screen and place them onto a shared cockpit board -- one of you on the left seat's spaces, one on the right. You may not tell your partner what you rolled.
What that produces is unusual. You spend the game reading intent from placement rather than from words: they put a die on the flaps, which means they are worried about speed, which means they probably do not have the low number you were counting on. It is a conversation conducted entirely through actions, and when it works the feeling is quite unlike anything else in a fifteen-minute box.
It also solves the alpha player problem completely rather than partially. One person cannot direct both turns because one person does not have the information. This is the cleanest structural fix to that problem we have found in any co-op.
02
The scenarios give it legs
A single landing would be a demo rather than a game. Sky Team ships with a set of airports and scenarios that add specific complications -- weather, terrain, traffic -- so the difficulty climbs as you work through them.
That structure suits a pair particularly well. Each session is one short landing, you can stop after one or play six, and there is a visible sense of progress without the commitment a full campaign game demands.
03
Who should skip it
Skip it if the point of your evening is talking. The no-talking restriction is not a light theme -- it is the mechanic, and fifteen minutes of concentrated near-silence is the wrong shape for a conversational night in. Codenames: Duet is the co-op for that; this is not.
Skip it too if one of you finds constrained communication frustrating rather than exciting. That reaction is common and it is not a failure of skill: some people experience the restriction as a puzzle and some experience it as being unable to help. There is no way to house-rule around it, because removing the restriction removes the game.

A fifteen-minute co-op you play in near silence, and the tension is extraordinary.

Who should skip it
Skip it if you want to talk freely. The no-talking restriction is the whole game, and some pairs find that frustrating rather than thrilling.
Built around two people and honest about it, though the publisher lists it as 2+ rather than two only.
A cooperative word-association game. You each see half of a shared key card and give one-word clues to guide the other to the right agents in a 5x5 grid, avoiding the assassin.

Who should skip it
Skip it if one of you thinks in wildly different associations from the other. That gap is funny once and exhausting by the fourth game.
The cheapest way to find out whether co-op games work for the two of you.
A supports-more cooperative game that plays at two. You collect four treasures from a sinking island of 24 tiles and escape before the water level rises past the exit.

Who should skip it
Skip it if you have already played a modern co-op. It is deliberately gentle and you will solve it inside a handful of games.
Yes. Le Scorpion Masque describes it as exclusively for 2 players, and the Wikipedia infobox lists 2. It is one of the few genuinely two-player-only cooperative games in print.
+−How long does Sky Team take?
15 minutes per the infobox, and the publisher's own blog describes a game as playing in only 20 minutes. Either way it is the shortest co-op we recommend.
+−Can you talk at all in Sky Team?
You cannot tell your partner what dice you are holding. That restriction is the core mechanic, and it is what structurally prevents one player from running both sides of the game.
+−Is Sky Team good for beginners?
The rules are short, but the pressure is not gentle. It is a fine early co-op for a pair who like tension, and the wrong first game for someone who wants a relaxed introduction.
